Kathleen Laraia McLaughlin is a visual researcher and imagemaker whose work explores the intersections of photographic history, storytelling, and cultural identity. Her recent projects combine archival research, analog processes, and performance-based media to critically reframe 19th-century visual culture, with a particular focus on figures such as Julia Margaret Cameron. Through collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches, she examines how visual communication influences collective memory and strives to make historical narratives more accessible and relevant to contemporary audiences.
She received her MFA in Photography from Virginia Commonwealth University. Kathleen is currently Senior Lecturer at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the New York Film Academy in Burbank, California. CURRICULUM VITAE.
